Reflections on the Quran & Sunnah

(Satan Threatens You with Poverty) Then (He Gives Wisdom to Whom He Wills)

(Satan threatens you with poverty …) then right after it came (He gives wisdom to whom He wills..)

Wisdom: the Quran, and they agreed that what is meant by it here is: understanding the Quran, its abrogating and abrogated verses, and its meanings.

And the reflection I arrived at is that the Quran, through recitation, memorization and understanding, and especially reading and listening to its exegesis, protects a person from the whispers of Satan, the whims of the self, and immorality in all its kinds: stinginess, greed, insulting, cursing and so on.

So whoever wants guidance and to reach the utmost of happiness, let him hold to the Quran: set yourself a daily portion that you never abandon, then look at the richness in your heart and its aversion to desires and sins. Fortify your heart with it at the start of the day, not at its end.

Reflections on the Quran & Sunnah

(And recite to them the news of him to whom We gave Our signs, but he detached himself from them)

(And recite to them the news of him to whom We gave Our signs, but he detached himself from them; so Satan pursued him, and he became of the deviators) A parable Allah struck for the one to whom He gave the Quran and clear proofs, yet he did not act upon it; and the cause of his swerving from guidance: following desire instead of the Book; and preferring this world over the Hereafter.
