He whose soul has been perfected, his love for things and for people becomes pure of whims, free of emotions.
For you love them so that guidance and good may come to them; and this is love that arises from reason, not for your own interests with them, nor for their beauty, their looks, their colors and their voices.
So sincerity of intention, even when dealing with people, is the perfection of the soul and of love.
And the same goes for goals and ambitions in life
{We have certainly seen the turning of your face toward the heaven, and We will surely turn you to a qiblah with which you will be pleased} He said tarḍāhā (“with which you will be pleased”) and did not say tahwāhā (“which you desire”) or tuḥibbuhā (“which you love”); because the soul of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was perfect, so he loved for the qiblah to be toward the Kaaba because it was built upon tawhid and so it is more deserving than others, and not because it was his homeland or out of partisanship for his tribe.
The perfection of the soul of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: his heart does not become attached to a particular thing; rather, he wants the thing in his heart for the sake of good.
Tarḍāhā "And since being pleased conveys love that arises from reasoning, it was chosen in this context rather than “tuḥibbuhā” or “tahwāhā” — Ibn Ashur
So love that is built on rational and faith-based reasons is the most perfect love, so strive against your soul toward it, then look at the bliss of ease you are in.
I love humanity, but there is something in me that astonishes me: the more I love humanity as a whole, the less I love people as individuals."
It appears that Dostoevsky had reached a high stage of maturity, so much so that he freed himself from holding a special love and a particular affection for any one individual; he began to grasp that there is a general love for all human beings. As for our special, pure love, it belongs to a Being higher than us who is worthy of it!
Yes, and whoever reaches this degree, his maturity is complete.
