Put the World Behind Your Back

Put the world behind your back

and say: Allah is the Greatest!

And recite the Quran standing

by night, when the stars shine brightest

And proclaim it in the depth of darkness

a light, that your cause may come to light

All who are upon the earth, of jinn and men, hear it

so recite it aloud, aloud

Rise like your two forefathers, Abraham and Muhammad

that most radiant of caravans

You read not a single letter of it

but you are granted by it a triumphant victory
